Huge update to performance for such an old game. I wonder if they’re backporting changes they made for the next game.

    Time to check back in.

Arma 3 provided so many hours of pure fun through the 2010s.

    I miss that game.

You don’t have to miss it. It is still there and enjoyed by thousands of people everyday still.

Heck yeah, I remember building out and optimizing my PC to squeeze every frame I could out of Arma 3 back when it released. I have such fond memories of that game, I played tons of casual multiplayer games and Arma 3 Project Life which was a really well done invite only life roleplay game mode (before the developers killed the community by being dicks).

I’ve been on the Profiling branch for a couple of years and these changes are awesome. Tanoa was unplayable for me until I switched.

Kudos for Bohemia’s continued support for A3 while we wait for A4 (Reforger has also been a fantastic glimpse of the future of their engine).

I’ve always been curious about Arma, but I’m not sure if I’d like it… It appears to have a lot of depth, but the learning curve always seemed rather steep.

The learning curve isn’t that step anymore, especially for Singleplayer - even for more experienced Arma Players the main frustration there is the “trial and error” factor in the missions. Online it’s a bit different - if you don’t play full on MILSIM and focus on infantry combat you will be good there as well. It’s all manageable these days. And still great fun.
