Potentially yes, if you use existing IP to make music, doing it with a computer isn’t going to change anything about how the law works. It does get super complicated and there’s ambiguity depending on the specifics, but mostly if you do it a not obvious way and no one knows how you did it you’re going to be fine, anything other than that you will potentially get sued, even if whatever you did was a legally permissible use of the IP. Rightsholders generally hate when anyone who isn’t them tries to make money off their IP regardless of how they try to do it or whether they have a right to do it unless they paid for a license.
That feels categorically different unless AI has legal standing as a person. We’re talking about training LLMs, there’s not anything more than people using computers going on here.
Where does the training data come from seems like the main issue, rather than the training itself. Copying has to take place somewhere for that data to exist. I’m no fan of the current IP regime but it seems like an obvious problem if you get caught making money with terabytes of content you don’t have a license for.
Assuming I am physically in the same place, I will fall to my death. If I somehow survive the fall I would be severely injured and alone in the wilderness. Within a few days I would probably die of either my injuries, dehydration, or hypothermia.
In the before times when we still had the rule of law, mandatory voting would almost certainly require an amendment to the constitution or else the Supreme Court would block it. Under current precedents the government generally can’t compel political speech.
Breaking Bad. I made it part way through the first season before giving up. Everyone loves that show but I just couldn’t enjoy it.
Their banking sector at least went through reforms following the 2008 crisis. They are required to be less risky in certain ways than they were pre-GFC and have gone through a bunch of stress testing over the years.
I’m not sure, it was very diverse but the amount and type of diversity changes depending on where in the city you are and when it is. I went to a market where just about everyone was I believe from North African or Arab backgrounds, white folks were a minority. I also spent some time in a bar where we were some of the only white people. Most places though white folks were the majority. I’m sure there’s racism but the only bigotry I definitely noticed among Parisians was against the Roma.
Yes, white American who is unable to speak French. Which reminds me, Parisians are a lot less white than in the movies. At least the places I went and the people I met.
Utah is like another country to me.
Utah. Other than the staff at a restaurant everyone was rude. I think a motel manager may have lied about not having rooms, at the very least he made it clear he didn’t like us.
Yes. Its like sales taxes are going up. Unless something is assembled in the US from parts produced in the US there is now a big increase in taxes that must be paid. Most things people buy in the US will now be taxed significantly and thus cost significantly more.
Paris. I’ve always heard bad things about Parisians but they were cool. The only rude people I encountered were tourists.
Effectively, yes. Tariffs are basically just a sales tax. It’s a little more complicated than that but the end result for consumers isn’t really any different.
If I’m understanding correctly, you’ve not been selling the customer the additional feature but they think you have been and now your boss wants you to actually start billing them for the feature that they mistakenly think they are getting already but without actually providing the feature to them? Assuming that is correct it really does sound like fraud. Generally you can’t knowingly sell something you aren’t capable of selling but still collect the money. Even if the victim mistakenly thinks they got what they paid for you are still defrauding them of the money. I’m not a lawyer but I think if you do this you may end up needing a lawyer. Is there anyone else in the company besides your boss that you could talk to about this? The more people know about what is going on the harder it will be for your boss to pull of whatever he is trying to pull off. If something like this was going on where I work I would be documenting everything and sharing it with whoever would look at it, starting with my bosses boss. I wouldn’t make any accusations though, just present the facts and express your concerns.
If a person would be “in the right” it doesn’t matter how or why they are a person.
Every discussion I’ve had with someone who said this has led me to expect ignorance. I think its something people who don’t know much like to say because they think it sounds good.
Doesn’t matter if you’re using a compromised device. Given the number of people in the group chat, that at least some of them were using personal devices, and all of them are high value targets… I wouldn’t be so confident that this chat wasn’t intercepted.
