Better late than never. But I’m pretty tired of all these people posting about how they’re leaving X now.
Thanks for supporting him and all the lies and insane demagogy up until the election. If you didn’t have an account on Truth Social, why did you still have one on X after he revealed himself so long ago?
People are going to go where the people are. There’s a critical mass that has to happen for there to be enough impetus to cause a major shift. And this goes doubly so for people like artists who depend on being seen by people in order to put food on the table. I’ve seen tons of artists asking since Musk originally bought Twitter about where the hell they can go, because they’re chained to the popular social media platforms.
I think a lot of people were sticking around to follow election news and try to effect the conversation, and are bailing now that it’s over in hopes of building up bluesky by the next one.
And these people are insane. Elon has total control over the narrative, and the people that believe they can “throw sand in the gears” with some quippy xeets are delusional.
At least they’re moving, but fucking Christ; far too many people have main character syndrome.
And then wait for the next right-wing psychopath to buy up that one? You can’t jump off Twitter to another privately held platform and not expect the same to happen there sooner or later.
They think that the problem is Musk, because he’s the proximate cause. You can’t expect people who are uneducated about this stuff to make a systemic analysis, research decentralized alternatives, and then decide to go to Mastodon or whatever.
If they were that educated on the issue, they would’ve left X a long time ago.

Eh idk, Elon boosting right-wing content doesn’t mean that nobody was seeing people’s anti-Trump posts on there, much less that they did any harm.
