i’m doing it because I want to make the fediverse more friendly place, in hopes of making it more welcoming for new users, and the nicer place in general. But I wonder how much is just less bots.

Im too new to tell if Lemmy is more left or right leaning or somewhere in the middle. But Reddit is extreme left wing, you can’t even make a (bad) joke without getting banned.
Why don’t you test that bad joke out on lemmy and see how it plays?
“Gee, the usual suspects, oh I guess I’m racist now”. That was it, just a snarky cynical comment / “joke” relating to a couple of store robbers/thieves.
“Encouraging hate”, or something like that according to the ban.
Way over the top reaction by a mod or admin, keep in mind I got nothing but upvotes on that comment too… somebody really didn’t like that.
Depending on the instances you look at, reddit is center right compared to lemmy. Lemmy is full of socialists and communists gasp
Well as I mentioned somewhere before, I’m still new here, but it’s seems fairly normal to me so far. On Reddit I’ve been temporarily or permanently banned from Subreddits like for the silliest things, when a mod doesn’t like you, there is no point. They will call you names and whatnot, doesn’t matter, appeal process? Doesn’t seem to exist.
Now how this works on Lemmy is still an unknown to me, though I do think Lemmy is too “complex” for the average internet user and so won’t be able to gain a similar “succes” in terms of userbase and ease of use.
