what a shitty article. no info at all, nothing on the rescue process or who they work with in Korea.

the headline makes it seem like Montreal (the most arrogant part of Canada) is a savior to the savage koreans

the reality is that almost everyone fucking hates the dog meat industry in korea except for the oldest generation. it’s on its way out.

and i guarantee the rescue is 99% korean effort and 1% fuckin Montreal. the dogs just need a place to live and not a lot of people living in cities have space for dogs

So if anyone remembers back before the 2018 Winter Olympics. There was a whole bunch of dogs taken from South Korean meat farms.

My roommate at the time worked at the local animal shelter and was the person responsible for the assessment of animals on intake, working with them and her signature was one of the ones needed to sign a dog off before it was available for adoption.

This shelter received about 5 of the dogs from Korea. As soon as they got the dogs a local news story was written about it and they were flooded with calls from people wanting a Korean meat dog. None of which were anywhere near ready.

Despite the shelter having good dogs that were ready and waiting for their forever home. People only wanted the Korean meat dogs.

In the end none of the Korean meat dogs were able to be socialized to the point that they were safe to be adopted out. They all ended being euthanized.

So basically the thing was a complete failure best a quick minute of good PR to make people feel good about themselves.

Will those dogs pay higher than dogs from the province if we want to train them? Or is the recent proposal only for humans?
