There’s a lot more revenue in advertising than subscriptions, especially on a website that started off entirely free (so Netflix for example goes in the subscription model rather than the advertising model but that seems to have changed!)

There’s a mass of people who follow up on these advertisements. The latest advertisements I’ve encountered on YouTube are really really calculated and well scripted. For example the digital dollar advertisements sound like they’re going to save you from financial ruin. It’s clever and it’s working. Money is pouring in.

The Chinese consumers have been eating up ads like that for their TVs to power on for roughly half a decade at least. I’m talking Xiaomi. Chinese consumers are the perfect ad(shit)-eating consumer; so docile and they like to burn money (I mean, they do…literally).

Uh…profit? They only have one religion in China.

I have a UV lamp from when I was making sure the room was relatively sterile for our newborn.

So here’s my say:

1. The room rapidly stinks of ozone. Ozone is a free radical that fucks up everything, including your lungs. We didn’t enter the room until about half an hour after the UV was off (Ozone recombines pretty quickly).
2. UV lamps are frequently used to sterilise hospital rooms because people are usually immunocompromised. Our newborn was fine, but it may have helped.
3. COVID turns up in the comments: you cannot emit UV everywhere anytime without, again I quote, fucking people’s lungs up. And COVID was pretty good at spreading anywhere and everywhere, so haha, nope.
4. Those fun UV lamps that make stuff glow in the dark? Pretty damn close to visible colour violet, and low intensity (we use them in the dark, no?). This UV lamp for sterilisation? Look at it for a couple of seconds and you are already burning a hole in your retina.

A cursory search shows that a closed loop can be made between two particles that are entangled but other than that, scientists are sceptical of the possibility of time travel or entanglement over time. Only over distances.
