That’s exactly what i was trying to say. I don’t have the chance to make an impact on society at large, but i absolutely do make a very significant impact on the individual people in my personal circle, and that’s extremely valuable.

Old enough to have a significant amount of gray hairs, but not so old that it’s all gray
But that’s awesome! Having simpler dreams means you can actually achieve them! That’s so much better than having dreams of stardom that results in disappointment and wasted life opportunities for 99.99999% of those people.
And also, your dreams sound like very meaningful things that make a great life!
Maybe at your age. At my age almost all of the Something Great bells have rung. Don’t get me wrong, there are still plenty of very meaningful things i can accomplish, and many important impacts i can make on individual people’s lives, - but for me the possibility of doing something that has a broader impact on society is pretty much gone. But so what, the impact i can have on individual people’s lives is still very valuable, and my own subjective experience of life is just as important as anyone else’s! So i try to make my own experience of living as good as it can be!
That I never did Something Great™ with my life.
Didn’t become a rock star, didn’t cure cancer, didn’t invent a world changing technology, didn’t become a famous artist, etc.
I didn’t know specifically what I was aiming to do, but for some reason I assumed that i would do something that made a big impact on the world. I was totally convinced of it. And it’s not because my parents constantly told me that or anything. The closest i heard was a lot of “you have so much potential if you’d only apply yourself!” Ugh.
Reminds me ever so slightly of the Genesis game Fatal Labyrinth. It’s a terrible video game, but if you’re curious…
You can only speak for yourself, there are plenty of people that do regret it
Better is better. Everything else is just silly pointless judgment
Eh they could do whatever they want. They could declare that “the point in time has been reached that god wanted women to be able to be priests from. His plan has always been that women were not allowed to be priests until a certain date had passed, and now that date has arrived.”
If i could freeze technology at a particular era it wouldn’t be the 80s. I think i would pick some time after social media existed but before it was weaponized. So like maybe early 2010’s. Up through about the early 2010s it seemed like tech was constantly making life better, but since then it seems like tech is increasingly making life worse
Just because a show was “filmed in front of a live studio audience” that doesn’t meant it didn’t have a laugh track as well. Lots of shows filmed in front of a studio audience ALSO added tons of laugh track
America is so widely spaced out that there are some huge stretches of mostly empty highways, so the only feasible way to monitor for speeders is by helicopter watching over the massive stretches of road. Or at least that’s how it used to be, these days i bet they are increasingly just using cameras
That’s so odd, i thought usually sports car speedometers go higher than the car is actually able to achieve in order to trick people into thinking it’s actually capable of going that fast. But now that i think about it i guess that was just an assumption
I was once on an empty road that was straight all the way to the horizon and i got it up to 100. I woulda gone higher but my passenger didn’t want to
It’ll be in the air too. Anything in the soil will become dust in the air for years. It’ll get kicked into the air every time a lawn is mowed, a hole gets dug, a dry season occurs, etc
I’d guess that’s probably true for most of them, this one is probably an outlier
We do have those things. That’s how many technologies already work.
That’s one interpretation, but the description i gave includes a much larger range than that
