In a fucked up way I lol’d at this. If I put on my tinfoil hat I’d say the USA is encouraging China to “spy” on us so they have to absorb the brainrot. Poor bastards

Oh no no, they enthusiastically help dismantle the basic rights of American citizens; at least the ones with corporate interests.
The fact that Lindsey Graham is in bed with these fuckers on this bill should be all the red flags needed, to be honest.
Yep this is, at least so far, a “the bastards can’t crack in from the outside so they’re trying to get you to hand over your account.”
Mildly reassuring but clickbait titles gonna clickbait.
Yeah those first couple paragraphs were just “ADHD/autistic woman behaves like an ADHD/autistic woman. Time to blame her for using accommodation equipment!” (Not actually Dx’ing her, but I recognize a lot of my own patterns here).
Like for fuck’s sake let us have our small bits of sanity. Tuning out the constant hell that is everyday life is not a sin.
One can only hope they’ll have the mind/willingness to.
I’ll never understand people who knowingly come to a currently bare-bones community (said with love!) and then complain that it’s bare-bones, and not bother to engage and help it grow.
Like no shit it’s nowhere near as huge as Reddit. Guess how content and engagement happen? By posting content and engaging! Ugh. /rant
So tight it resembles a sphincter.
That’s also a fair point. The other side was always listicles and quizzes and celebrity gossip which is never high quality. Now it’s just the slop + AI.
Regurgitated articles from 4 years ago still pop up on my Apple News app (I only use the free stuff though). They can’t even make new content.
Tbf it was half decent when they still had Buzzfeed News, which was actual journalism. They shut that down in 2023 though.
How Buzzfeed of him.
Far more positive and civil; people actually engage in their replies instead of the stream of recycled quips. Bad faith discussions usually get called out as such; less astroturfing.
Small-ish forums probably help with that too since users run in the same circles and there’s less overall “noise.” It’s also much more imperative to comment on posts since there may not be much engagement otherwise.
They were itching to dump RC like a month or two after it launched. I played a bit when it came out but then news of them abandoning ports made me quit while I was ahead.
Shame too because it was a fun PvP shooter like TF2, and not sweaty like other live-service games.
I’m like, borderline aro(?) and yeah having the option to proceed down a meaningful friendship path with my favorite characters/have them move in (shoutout to Krobus in SDV) is awesome when provided.
I can also see the “empty tokenism” as in, players deserve more fleshed out queer relationships instead of rainbow stickers being half-heartedly slapped on existing characters but yeah unfortunately the reviewer is probably a pearl clutching “woke DEI other-buzzword bad” type.
Unfortunately the live-rotting musk-scented fleshlight probably enjoys this sort of attention.
Still funny though.
Both. Definitely both. Every person has a unique capacity for resistance, so however you’re able is good and important. Talking about it, protesting, boycotting (even in tiny amounts) is something! Being nice to yourself and others in non-consumerist ways is also resistance; like hand-write a note instead of buying a card; your loved one will still appreciate it.
The point is to be a dandelion - they try to pave over us, and we pop back up through the cracks, even in our own little unassuming ways. We may be ants to them but insects outnumber vertebrate life forms by orders of magnitude.
Lots of metaphors as I get sidetracked but case in point: if you can do it, do it!
ETA: Decentralized forms of resistance may be our best bet. Big coordinated efforts are good. Making them play whack-a-mole is also good. If they don’t know where to look next even better.
