This makes me a lot more worried about the upcoming Mass Effect too. I can fully see the marketing department being like “this is our Guardians Of The Galaxy!” and giving it the same treatment.

Also Civ VI is currently 95% off on Steam if that’s helpful to anyone.
I could see the appeal of consoles back in the day, when they were weaker specs but much cheaper and the games just worked right out of the box. But nowadays it seems like they’re just as expensive, still not as good for specs and the games are just as bug-riddled as PC games half the time. And Sony has been releasing all their big hits on PC anyway so yeah really no reason for me to get a PS5 that I can see.
A game that’s like a combination of all the “…Simulator” type games like Car Mechanic Simulator, PC Building Simulator, House Flipper and so on, where you can scavenge parts and build anything in your base. Build a base & decorate it from scratch, build & repair vehicles, build electronic stuff like PCs and so on. I always thought each of those games felt like kind of like a fun sub-game for a larger overarching thing.
As a European, I’d say it is very much in America’s MO to come into a conflict all guns blazing and with lots of bluster, then get caught in a quagmire for an absurdly long time, then eventually randomly declare that they’ve won and just bail, with very little regard for whoever’s left still fighting who isn’t American.
It seems to happen with them pretty regularly, and for an example it was only about three years ago that they hurriedly pulled out of Afghanistan and abandoned the local translators to their fates with the Taliban.
With regards to Russia encroaching into Europe, could we be 100% certain that Trump won’t win the next election and start throwing favours to Putin? I’d say it’s certainly a possibility.
Or at least space them out a bit. You get one set for the first 5-10 years, and then the second set has to last you the remaining 60-70.
Getting a new set at like 35-40 seems like a more sensible system to me.
It’s funny how as soon as two competing projects (Life By You and Paralives) start to get closer to release they suddenly care about improving stuff they’ve ignored for 10 years lol
For me, it was:
You couldn’t get one for ages when it came out, so I missed the initial hype period.
When it did finally become available, it was prohibitively expensive.
There are no real killer exclusives or features so no particular reason to upgrade, aside from games looking nicer.
Sony is releasing all the good stuff on PC now, so if I want to play a nicer-looking version of a PS4 game I can just do that.
Steam Deck
Unlimited scams and Jesus stuff for everyone!
Or… hear me out… we use AI to make social media even more insufferable than it was before.
And ironically when we do get to the point where an AI can string together a semi-coherent narrative, the first things it’ll start to produce will probably be exactly the sort of mid-level dross that Tyler Perry likes to make.
Mull is a good one for Android.
Hmm, I have a soldering iron and a 3D printer. You might be right. Thanks for the link!
I had a go on a VR helmet and thought it was kind of fun, but at the moment the options seem to be an affordable one that’s infested with Facebook nonsense, or the Valve/Apple ones which are presumably less intrusive but cost a fortune. So I’m fine to just do without until someone figures out how to do it in a cheap, open-source kind of way, like the raspberry pi of VR helmets.
That might not even be possible, but in that case I’m also fine to just do without TBH.
Yeah same here. Don’t have TPM, not buying a new CPU just to enable Microsoft’s bullshit, so we are at an empasse.
If you have a Steam Deck, there’s also a Decky plugin that integrates it right into Steam so you can see how long the game will take right from the launch page. That and the ProtonDB plugin that shows Linux compatibility are super handy.
I haven’t seen it yet, but one review said it was one of the most unintentionally funny movies of the year.
Also Ridley Scott is doing a hilarious press tour for it.
Scott was informed of some less than stellar French reviews of his film – French GQ called it “deeply clumsy” and “unintentionally funny” – to which Scott replied with the following solid gold banger: “The French don’t even like themselves.”
But don’t think that insulting an entire country is enough for Scott. Speaking to the Sunday Times’s Jonathan Dean last weekend, he also reserved some ire for historians, some of whom have suggested that Napoleon might not be the most rigorously accurate film ever made. Scott responded by addressing the entire historian community. “Excuse me, mate, were you there?” he raged. “No? Well, shut the fuck up then.”
IMO the one thing they can’t escape is themselves. I saw an illustration of one of these survival bunkers, which went ten floors down, with the bottom floor being a huge armory. My first thought was, so it’s going to be nine storeys packed to the brim with entitled sociopaths, sitting on a massive pile of guns?
I’m pretty sure I’ll last longer outside with the cannibals lol
Only this, two more remasters of part 2, then the third game and two more remasters of that and then I can get the whole thing on Steam!
IIRC he had some kind of insurance file against that, I think there used to be some encrypted file you could download from Wikileaks and if he died the password would be released.
No idea what it was (if anything, it could have just been a bluff of course) but it seems to have had the desired effect so far.
