I played through 1 - 4 and honestly, I think 4 was the only one that was actively good. The others might once have been fun, but they didn’t really hold up. However I had a great time with 4. I particularly liked the epilogue.

I only played through the second one but the thing that got me was just how ambitious it was. It ruined many other games for me as I was left thinking “Where’s the rest of the game?”.

The opening act of Little Big Adventure 2 gets my vote.

The Temple of Trials is intended to be a tutorial - something the executives insisted they include. The first game’s tutorial is in the manual.

The maze puzzle with the electrified floor is some absolute bullshit. I wonder if there’s a mod to remove that nonsense?

As for the beginning, I used a mod to skip the Temple of Trials because you’re absolutely right, it’s such a tedious slog. Yay, executive meddling!
