10·7 months agoI’ve bought pretty expensive equipment, tube amplifier, many fancy headphones, optical DACs. A library full of FLAC files. I even purchased a $500 portable DAP. I’ve never been able to reliably tell a difference between FLAC and 320k MP3 files. At this point, it really doesn’t concern me anymore either, but I at least like to see my fancy tube amp light up.
I will say, though, $300 seems to be the sweet-spot for headphones for me.

In a similar vein, I’d like to recommend Skeptics Guide To The Universe. Mostly focused on science news and critical thinking. I believed they’ve interviewed Sean Carroll several times in the past as well.
It’s been around for 18 years, and they have a very rigid format that may not be for everyone, but I personally really like the organization of it

I get what you’re saying, but color is weird. There’s a specific term to describe colors that come from light sources, and colors that are a result of an object absorbing light. Brown is more the result of a lack of color

I work in limestone quarries every day. The dust and grit gets everywhere, and almost every day I will get some in my mouth. Sometimes pieces that are about the size of a skittle somehow make it into my mouth (no. They do not taste like lime Skittles)
The taste isn’t the problem, it’s the gritty texture that makes it feel like you’re grinding away at your teeth. The taste is similar to steak seasoning. I keep some unflavored gum with me and chew it when I get some in my mouth. This allows me to enjoy the salty/savory flavor while getting past the horrible texture. If only they made steak-flavored chewing gum.
