Happy cake day!
yes thank you for that.
I found this part interesting: ““We were unprepared for that kind of response,” Philippine navy spokesperson Roy Trinidad said in a phone interview on Thursday. “We stuck with the rules of engagement. They were not allowed to use guns except for self defence.””
So China created the conditions for this kind of confrontation by including non-use of guns in confrontations, similar to its border with India. And then proceeds to create this aggression with swords and spears. Philippines was too naive. China is escalating tensions there, taking things to the edge of sparking a hot war without having one.
Here are some pics of Chinese boarding Philippine vessels with axes swords and pointed weapons: (https://x.com/TeamAFP/status/1803423024449986581).
This kind of tactic is reminiscent of the Chinese style of combat on the border with India.

SMH. Is it any surprise how they got to be rich?
The interesting is that it was Pentagon and not CIA or NSA.
These people have lived all their lives on the seas for thousands of years roaming the seas in Southeast Asia hopping from island to island. Nobody’s restricted their movements till now.
If you think you’re outraged, wait till Serbia becomes a member!
Most people in the Burmese community refers to the country by the name Burma as well since the name change was done by the military junta.
And their crime was running from a war at home where their homes had been burned to the ground by a military junta.
A lot of money for poor refugee families who lost their homes to the war in Myanmar running from there and having no livelihood (likely was subsistence farming in the rugged hills of Chin state) no status in India to earn wages in India.
This is ridiculous. Where is common decency?
Falling birth rates are bad news for economies and billionaires, but good news for the planet.
Thai PM has warned Burmese over illegal entry as per this post here. Historically, Thailand is where Burmese exiles have always escaped to during political strife. During British occupation of Burma, hundreds of thousands of Burmese refugees lived in Thailand and formed a guerilla army that successfully participated in the liberation of Burma. Soon after independence different political and ethnic factions within the Burmese army that was created from merging the Burmese guerilla army with the British-trained colonial army mutinied into a civil war, refugees have streamed into Thailand on an annual basis. UN and international humanitarian agencies have long operated on the Thai-Burmese border for decades providing economic boost in those marginal regions to Thailand. Finally Thailand has <1% unemployment and has long welcomed and recruited Burmese expat workers currently estimated to be around 4 million, half of them believed to be illegal. This additional influx is a somewhat of a welcome boost.
link it next time you see an article. otherwise people will not see it.
Yes China only cares about their economic interests.
To the long time observers in the region it is well known that China has long been supplying weapons to the guerillas operating in Myanmar since after WWII. There is a long history of China’s active involvement in Burma which started with Communist Party of Burma (wiki link provided). China trained the communist guerillas of Burma. Once Communist Party of Burma (CPB) collapsed into its ethnic factions, their relationship with Beijing continued. The largest private armed organization or faction that broke off from CPB is the United Wa State Army with a standing count of 30,000 soldiers, the world’s largest private army - as big or bigger than armed forces of some countries including Sweden, Belgium, Georgia, Portugal. China sent an OFFICIAL representative to Wa State Army parade as an indication of how close the relationship is.[https://www.scmp.com/news/asia/southeast-asia/article/3006575/masters-our-destiny-myanmars-25000-united-wa-state-army]. Well known defense magazine Janes Weekly wrote an article of Chinese military equipment on display at the parade [https://www.janes.com/defence-news/news-detail/united-wa-state-army-military-parade-showcases-ongoing-modernisation#:~:text=Other modern Chinese infantry weapon, mounted 12.7 mm QJZ89 heavy]. Interestingly, the official currency and language in Wa State is the Yuan and Mandarin.
Recently in 2021, China has resuscitated Communist Party of Burma and its military wing People Liberation Army and they are active once again.
Article stating Indian government suspects Chinese helping guerilla groups on its border with Myanmar, outlining Beijing’s links to the guerilla armies in Myanmar: [https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/china-helping-rebel-groups-on-myanmar-border-india/articleshow/79601798.cms]
China also has been the main supplier of arms to Burmese military for decades. In the last 10 years under current Junta boss Min Aung Hlaing who was formerly the chief of staff of armed forces, Burmese military has complained of the reliability issues with Chinese weapons and have begun to seek alternative sources elsewhere - mainly Russia, but also India. Here are articles indicating who’s arming the illegitimate Junta in Myanmar: [(https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/9/16/who-is-selling-weapons-to-myanmar)] [https://apnews.com/article/myanmar-weapons-russia-china-singapore-05bd26bc54df8bc682ee1143f0f36a5e]
What this poorly written article doesn’t say clearly is that these are Burmese REFUGEES who have ran from the war-mongering military junta to India. India does not recognize refugees and have jailed them.
