I introduced my wife to the world of proper bra fit, because she’d never known any of it. No one taught her. Made me feel vaguely guilty of mansplaining, but it helped!
There are plenty of brands that follow mostly standard sizing, as I understand it. But popular brands in the US (like Victoria Secret) generally don’t.

I was at a symphony concert where the guest performer was Yo-Yo Ma. And up in the cheap seats where I was, phones went off no less than FOUR TIMES during his performance.
It sure seemed like three of them were the same phone, but there were at least two different phones that went off.
How on earth do you not silence your phone going into a concert? And if you forgot to, how do you not silence your phone when someone else’s goes off? And most importantly, how do you not silence your own phone if it goes off?
During the applause the same person’s phone went off again and I just started laughing.

Ice…slams into your teeth?
Just pucker your lips a bit and use the top one to block the ice. I’m trying to think through how I drink from a glass of ice water or iced coffee and I’m relatively confident that’s how I do it…
Okay I tried it out. My upper lip blocks the ice. Sometimes if I open my mouth more a cube will tap my teeth, but only gently because it was already held by the lip until then. The only way I could get ice to slam into my teeth was to like, hold my lip up in a sneer and just let the ice hit my teeth. But my instinctual ice-water-drinking method is to block ice with lip.

There is a confluence of problems here. LED headlights are stupidly bright, but if they’re aimed correctly and the headlights aren’t too high up, they’re not as big an issue generally.
But the arrival of LED headlights coincided with cars getting tall as fuck. There are pickup trucks whose headlights are nearly as high up as my head. Which just compounds the problem, because even if those lights are aimed mostly correctly, they’re still gonna blind people.
It’s infuriating.

A lot of American TV takes place in NYC, and there just isn’t room for lots of apartments to have washers and dryers in NYC. Buildings might have a laundry room, or you go to a laundromat.

I strongly disagree. There are many times where someone else’s death is something to hope for. I think if you try you can think of a few relatively easily.
USB-C ports are especially prone to dust/lint buildup that can prevent the plugs from seating properly in the ports. Worth trying to scrape them out if they stop working right. I like to use a staple that I’ve unbent, but it has been pointed out this probably isn’t the safest tool. Just avoid the contacts and only scrape the bottom and sides of the port. It’s amazing how much crap comes out if you’ve been using the device for a while.
Wasn’t that the entire point of the “U” in “USB”?
Nah, the point of the “U” in “USB” is so that devices communicate in a standardized way through a standardized bus. The port itself doesn’t need to be universal—after all, USB-C is I believe the first time that the host port and the device port are the same, previously there was always an A for host and B for device, even with mini-USB and micro-USB.
Toothpicks aren’t usually thin enough in my experience, and I’m more worried about the tongue getting bent by the toothpick than I am about the bottom of the port getting scratched by a staple. But I agree a staple isn’t ideal, it’s just the common item I’ve found that works best. I’m sure there are better tools.

If it’s the latter, take a staple and bend it straight, and VERY GENTLY drag it round inside the port, avoiding contacts, scraping out the lint and dust that has almost certainly become impacted at the base of it over time. I do this whenever cables don’t want to stay in anymore and it’s amazing how much of a difference it makes.
I have had one example of the port itself becoming loose, but mostly I’ve run into the lint/dust problem.
Yeah Lightning was really nice. I was surprised how much I liked it after switching from Android to iOS. If only it weren’t proprietary and had too few pins to be very useful outside of charging.
I still hated that my phone didn’t use USB-C though, since everything else I own does. Glad the new iPhones do.

They can? My PS5 has been on the included vertical stand the entire time I’ve owned it, what risk am I ignoring?
I remember with the Xbox 360 the only issue was if you switched from vertical to horizontal or vice versa while the disc was being read.

I don’t own a Mac Mini, and never will. I’m not trying to defend Apple.
But I’ll use my work laptop as an example. I have external monitors, so I never open the damn thing except on the rare occasions I need to use the power button. This happens infrequently enough that it gives me a pretty good notion of how often people need the actual power button on a modern computer.
If the button can be reached without turning over the device or even picking it up, as it sure appears, what’s the problem? Other than that it’s an Apple device and people love to hate on Apple devices.
