  • My two pet theories:

Right before you are born, you make every possible decision you are ever going to make, and then your soul chooses the course that is least bad for most gain, like a min-maxer.

Or! Every time you make a decision that kills you, you die! But you soul hops to the reality where you didnt die, because the universe is an infinite dimension holograph of all possible everything, and it really is just about learning and growing

Anecdote time: once upon a time I was a young man working in chem hose. I would get sent all over to do onsight testing and repair with my work mate, we were good friends and druggos lol.

So we got sent to this beautiful majestic place to work. After work we took mushrooms and went to the national park. Fun! It got dark, so we went driving down some farm roads. After some time I decided to stop. We smoked weed, hung around, then after a bit got tired and went home. Sounds normal right?

Next day, couldnt find the weed after work, no big, lets hit that farm road, see it in the day, maybe find it. After some time the road ended… at the resevoir. The weed was there, and so were my tire tracks. 5 feet away from the edge of the reseviour. Seems like oh, we would just have lost the truck and gotten out right? No. It was a sheer wall 20’ to the bottom. We should both be dead, and in that other universe, we are dead…

  • 8 beats 7 in most ways, but 7 has a better and more coherent story. At least Clouds memory wipe makes sense, where as 8 is like i onno, gfs did it. 8 had deeper customization and so many hillarious way to break the game, a sick card game, a bigger more realistic world and still quite a good story even with the plot holes.

But there is no denying that the characters in 7 are much more Iconic to the series. There is a reason 7 got tapped for a remake and not 8 or 9 or even 6. I would do unspeakable things to see a modern version of Kefka just, being a massive douche in the world of balance.

I have to applaud the dedication to the bit. Show that complainer whats what.

  • But if we dont have free will morals dont exist because you arent actually chosing anything, if free will doesnt exist we arent choosing those punishments either. It was all mechanically determined before the first star went supernova and created heavy elements. To quote Pigeon of Mike Tyson Mysteries “whatevers gonna happen, is gonna happen anyways”

I personally believe that free will exists because of the quantum nature of our universe. I think when quntum effects collapse into macro effects that is the universal uncaring impersonal consciousness presenting itself to discreet personalized units of consciousness in a way we can understand and work with. I think the entire universe has consciousness and that when our containers can no longer maintain the biological loci of experience we return to that eternal, ever present, always safe universal consciousness, the source of the sense of identity.

Consciousness does all this because a universe where nothing ‘unpredictable’ happens and there is no ‘other’ to share experience with would be eternal solitary confinement.

Just my thoughts on the matter of free will, obviously un-provable and un-testable in our current state of being.

  • Yep, your brain percieves stimuli and generates a virtual internal reality that runs with a tiny time delay between the objective reality and your internal subjective simulation of it. So we live in a simulation even if our universe is the objectively ‘real’ one, or we live in a simulation of a simulation.

Your personality may also be a simulation internaly created so that you have a way to ‘justify’ your bodies actions to other entities. Split brain experiments are veeeery interesting.

This is pure conjecture but I sometimes wonder if neuro-divergencies are caused by a fault in the internal simulation via brain chemistry

  • If you look closely you’ll notice republicans are only fervent about certain things that they have linked to the christian religion but the link is usually tenuous, sometimes the subject not mentioned specifically in the bible at all. Jesus supposedly said “live by the sword, die by the sword” - those were not instructions but a warning. And other things in the christian religion they fully ignore. I posit that they are not fervent christians at all but rather wolves in sheeps clothing.

If you want to see really fervent christians, there are many in Africa and Asia. Being actually persecuted, or even just poor in education tends to ratchet up the ferventcy in true believers.
