I’m in my late 20s and I’m on the same boat. Especially when it comes to politics. People are often much more than their politics. Unless they’re in the extreme horizontals of their beliefs.
That nice barista at the coffee shop? Could be a liberal. The dude at the office who held the elevator for you? Could be conservative. That’s just the way it works

I live in Bangalore, India. The local language here is Kannada but I don’t speak it nor do I have many friends who speak it. I named my cat Bacardi and would call him Bacoo. Turns out the word for cat in the local language is also “Bacoo”. So for any local who saw me interact with my cat, it looked like I was calling my cat “cat”! I found out around a year later!

I do. Especially compared to a company like Amazon. Google’s alternatives to Amazon’s are almost always better and has better UI/UX.
But Amazon knows the market and whatever bs they stitch together ends up being the more popular option.

But I guess there’d be some way to build a browser extension to figure out if the website is using any popular fediverse platforms (mastodon, lemmy, etc.)
It can be configured that way. But by default macOS behaves like Android/iOS keyboard. Personally, I’ve never had to long press to repeatedly type a key. Why is that a useful feature?
Why are you suggesting they add it to the emoji menu? On macOS this works exactly how it works on iOS/Android. Long press the key and the options show up

Its not too intuitive to find extensions. For instance, there’s no extensions store. You search in the App Store. Some apps by default come with an extension (1Password, Apollo, etc.)
Adblock is actually good. So good that I had to uninstall because the shopping links from Google didn’t work!
Safari supports extensions. What makes Firefox the first?
It’s not even the internet. Conservatives are more likely to stick to existing stuff and not experiment much. Liberals do that.
This is why places like YouTube have a big conservative audience. Places like Lemmy will have a huge liberal audience

And no, conservatism is not built upon hate. There has to be a left, there has to be a right. And the absence of either would drive us to dictatorship (lack of left wing) or anarchy (lack of right wing)
It’s funny in a lot of conversations about RCS WhatsApp users (mostly from outside US) make fun of RCS fans as if WhatsApp is not owned by a multinational corporation!

I personally am much more optimistic about this. There exists something called “Green Premium” which is the extra price we consumers need to pay right now to reduce our emissions. Being from India, I can’t really afford some of those Green Premium and neither can I blame people around me getting Air Conditioning or improving their living standards by getting a car in such hot and humid conditions.
My realistic hope is that the Green Premium will come down enough or even be on par with the regular price eventually where it won’t even make economic sense to have such a huge carbon footprint. I see efforts towards this end and I’m confident we’ll pull through.
That said, I also think some of the big cities in places like India will be unfortunately uninhabitable by the time we get there (around 2050)
