@Thorry84 @semperverus I’m often surprised how behind the times the US is. I mean chequebooks anyone? Card swiping? Overnight payment systems? Feels like a step back to the 90’s

@Thorry84 @semperverus Im just checking . Are you discussing what is basically ASDA shop and go… or the same service with a different name offered by every major UK supermarket ? asda.com/instore/scan-and-go
@Dave @liv Its horses for courses. Pumped hydro is great in areas with suitable terrain and for longer term storage. In other areas / applications batteries make sense. NZ is of course capital constrained. It would be great to do everything altogether all at once but its a journey right and you have to bring people along with you.
There is also a weird effect with new tech where delaying actually makes economic sense if costs are going down so you get the most bang for your buck by holding off for a bit.
@sarahsquirrel #UX is an interesting thing with ActivityFed since choice or service, server and UI are all kind of independent. e.g. I use #Lemmy communities alot via a #Friendica server that I sometimes access via web UI and othertimes via #Fedilab as such you could actually help with UX of lemmy by contributing to #Friendica or #Fedilab as well.
Regards your local group perhaps #friendica might provide a fuller set of features or indeed you could spin up something like #Yunohost and run a Friendica and #lemmy service for them (and throw in some #Nextcloud to)
@Thorry84 Yeah … I think their apps even offer it as a feature so you don’t have to pick up the device.
