Well this is nice. One downside is that folks who play games without VSync can’t turn it off in Wayland as far as I’m aware.

Of course it does. But I think what matters is the magnitudes and what do every one of those children have to lose. If you want security, you have to move to fewer and fewer children having this experience and to more of them having something to lose. Hamas made this equation markedly worse on Oct 7. Israel’s leadership made way worse thereafter.
Israel has been a pushover? This is the mindset that will keep this insurgency alive forever.
I heard an ex MI6 head cite some numbers on the current state of Hamas. They said that about 60% of the current fighters were orphans from previous wars. There’s gonna a whole lot more orphans from this one.
Israel is assured unsafe from another Oct 7 at least for a decade after this war, probably more. People won’t stop fighting when they have nothing left to lose. This expectation that these people would do something different than what you would when your families are killed is delusional.
“At least some of the acts and omissions alleged by South Africa to have been committed by Israel in Gaza appear to be capable of falling within the provisions of the (Genocide) Convention,” the judges said.
You read this and your takeaway is that the ICJ concluded there was no genocide committed by Israeli? Interesting.
I’m serious. Politics are a good chunk of the job, meetings is a major place for that. What happens there can have dramatic effects on how long something takes and therefore on the “produced output per unit of time.” I’ve been at it for 13 years now and embracing that has had positive results on my well-being and career. 🥹
Meetings are part of the productive time.
Any explanation that doesn’t include the fallout from the Great Recession and the following years of austerity is grossly incomplete at best.
The labor law challenges have already started.
Err, I’m pretty sure most European car makers manufacturing their Chinese models in China. A tariff would be largely meaningless. The EU officials basically told Chinese makers to do the same - bring the manufacturing here to avoid tariffs. Sounds like this might be a political move on the Chinese side as to not appear weak.
Well I did not expect Hagari to tell it like it is.
Interesting. The article talks about more regional freedom on spending taxes and rendering services. How about tax collection? If tax collection is unchanged, then there should still be equalising wealth transfers across regions.
Well at least his approval has dropped accordingly but he doesn’t give a shit probably because it’s his last term.
Print and TV can’t possibly compete with the amount of rage generated by the hyper personalized targeting machine that Facebook is. Add to that the fact that anyone can push their flavor of rage for a modest price. I don’t know if you’ve used Facebook over the last few years but if you haven’t, you should give it a spin. It’s incredible.
Still the label applies well to all corporate media.
Oh boy, this could be problematic.
They can certainly slow down the proliferation this way, a lot. They can’t gatekeep it forever from a determined third party though.
The Surgeon General’s suggestion that speech be labeled as dangerous is extraordinary. Communications platforms are not comparable to unsafe food, unsafe cars, or cigarettes, all of which are physical products—rather than communications platforms—that can cause physical injury. Government warnings on speech implicate our fundamental rights to speak, to receive information, and to think. Murthy’s effort will harm teens, not help them, and the announcement puts the surgeon general in the same category as censorial public officials like Anthony Comstock.
Um what. I don’t think it was about labeling speech. It’s labeling the platform which includes a lot more than speech. Namely how and what speech is presented to a particular individual a.k.a. The Algorithm. This reads like a disingenuous interpretation to safeguard the interest of social media giants. I did not expect this take from the EFF.
Go home EFF, you’re drunk.
A bit slow but still awesome for folks who want to develop on RISC-V.
Well, I had to subscribe to Proton now. 🥹
Sounds like Chrome’s Privacy Sandbox.
Yeah, as someone who’s fought against the RIAA/MPAA copyright lobbying in my country, I think I’m on their side on this one.
