I would rather lose my passwords than have my password database be accessed by someone else. Most websites have a “forgot password” function, and for passwords that don’t have that (e.g. to decrypt my hard drive or log into my computer) I’ve memorised the passphrase and always type it manually anyway. And for passwords where neither applies, it’s probably not a huge loss anyway if I’ve not prepared for the possibility of losing my password db for that particular password.

I like to think that most people would just contact the devs privately to get a fix pushed asap instead of ransoming everyone’s passwords.
Damn yeah I can definitely understand that grudge, but also yeah modern AMD products are a lot better. I recently upgraded my AM4 CPU and also to a new Radeon GPU and I think they both work really well, after previously having some issues with earlier AMD products. Especially with Linux gaming, AMD is the way to go
I think a lot of things can cause that. Unfortunately it’s difficult to diagnose hardware issues for certain without just having a bunch of spare cpus, spare mobos, spare ram, etc lying around and a lot of time on your hands to keep swapping out parts until you find a swap that fixes it. Especially when it’s an issue that happens occasionally so you have to keep using your computer without issue for long enough until you think it’s likely that the problem is fixed.
Also not guaranteed to be a hardware issue but probably is. I’ve sometimes had similar issues that were a combination of the kernel not working well with a specific piece of hardware I use.

Really for technical answers things should be on a forum. Troubleshooting a linux distro, post on the distro’s forums. Troubleshooting a piece of software, make an issue on its codeberg/github/gitlab/etc. It makes sense that if you’re having an issue with a specific thing you ask for help on a forum dedicated to that thing. I don’t think it’s a positive that things are becoming centralised onto generalised social media, even for more decentralised federated social media like Lemmy. It just makes support for a given piece of software more spread out and harder to find.

It isn’t necessarily. Had a police officer greet me by name once (had never interacted with this officer or the station they were from). They’ll have the data necessary to identify you by sight. If you’re a British citizen the British government most likely has a photo of you somewhere if you have any photo ID, not to mention if your face is known to the state through other means eg through interaction with the criminal justice system.
Because jammers are not inherently burglary tools. It provides extra information about the technology in discussion.

It has been years since I’ve contacted Steam customer support so maybe things have changed, or maybe my experience was not representative, but I found them to be pretty helpful and not-shit when I contacted customer support for something in the past.
I assume Valve, like the vast majority of tech companies, outsources moderation. It’s normally outsourced to incredibly underpaid and overworked people in the global south not given proper training for these things.

For GrapheneOS full disk encryption, am I correct in understanding that the disk is encrypted when my phone is locked and decrypted when I unlock it? So I don’t need to turn it off for it to be encrypted, as long as it’s locked it’s encrypted?

Yeah, seriously. Phones work fine hardware-wise for much longer than they get software updates for. If a company has to choose between supporting their existing model or making a new phone in terms of workload, they should support their existing model until at least most of the people who bought the phone when it was new now have physically broken phones.
