So, tomorrow presumably?
So, tomorrow presumably?
Pretty sure everyone in the world is either 30, 60 or a child.
In that context it makes sense though, it’s being used as an adjective, as is “older”.
In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry. It’s such a nice catchy tune that I enjoyed until my partner pointed out:
Have a drink, have a drive Go out and see what you can find If her daddy’s rich, take her out for a meal If her daddy’s poor, just do what you feel
Which, ew.
I think pumped up kicks is actually a really poignant statement on how normalized gun violence is in the states, to the point where this song was all over radios and I’m sure all over high school dances and nobody thought twice about it. Like obviously the band did it intentionally but the fact that the point was missed so hard by everyone who sang along. It is like Hey Ya vibes to me, or smells like teen spirit for the older crowds. The point is to take these very serious ideas and use them to highlight people’s willful ignorance.
I generally agree with your points on not wanting to create echo chambers; however, another reason for temporarily banning the topic imo is not just to block people talking about it but also to protect people who are already hurting, grieving, and generally just trying to find some sort of escape at the moment. Creating a space that will guarantee a temporary escape is nice, I think.
Similar situation but I was at a work event sitting next to a colleague I didn’t know very well. We work in IT so our boss had placed a bunch of fidget toys at each table. After maybe 10 minutes of us being there, she grabbed one and said “here, you need this”.
It did actually help me that day and now I just carry one with me or else just stim with my jewelry, which I hadn’t noticed is something I do until that day.
I am trying to get diagnosed as an adult and recently reached out to my parents for symptoms from when I was younger as those are necessary for adult diagnosis. My mom had pretty much the same reaction as you when I went over the symptoms. Lol ADHD is genetic.
Actual food? Probably yogurt at like one or two months. It had been sealed up until then.
I’ve had table syrup that was at least 4 years past the expiration (it actually still had the aunt Jemima on the bottle is how old it was).
A few days ago I finished some baking powder and my partner brought a big bottle home and I was like “oh it’s okay that stuff doesn’t expire!” Then I looked at the previous container I had and found out it had, in fact, expired in 2017. Don’t think it affected my baking though.
I mostly just eat stuff without looking at the dates unless it smells bad or is moldy.
Quads was fucking wild. I remember watching it in between Undergrads and the Oblongs. The wonders of having both parents work night shifts.
Chris Meloni’s character in Happy is actually just Stabler. His whole backstory as a disgraced cop is essentially really him (I think they even show a picture of him right out of SVU) but he had to change his name for protection.
Recently I watched an press event with a Canadian politician, who was switching between French and English as we must sometimes. He was talking about a bag of apples (which his colleague was holding) costing a stupid amount of money. He made the mistake of saying a bag of potatoes, which i found fucking hilarious as I speak both languages and understand the mistake. Unfortunately for him, the people criticising him were morons and were like WHY WOULD HE SAY POTATOES IS HE STUPID.
I actually think I get paid a decent wage at ~$35/hr (CAD) but the cost of living is just so goddamn high where I live that it’s not quite enough to get me by comfortably. So really, if I were doing this job elsewhere then that’s fine, my job’s really not that hard. but realistically, because of the state of my province, I’d give them my 100% for 45. They seem pretty happy with the 75% I’m putting in now though (some days less).
BLTs also have mayo, and preferably a hell of a lot of it. They are garbage without it.
I learned last year that you’re supposed to floss BEFORE you brush. I have no idea why no one ever taught me that.
I’m not gonna click on that link because there’s no way this is true. You can’t fool me.
I’m still reeling over cemetery not being spelled cementary and it’s been 20 years.
I’m just as angry as the next guy but I’m not gonna shame my boomer mom for not being able to figure out pirating or how to stream things to her tv. Could barely get her to figure out her tv man.
I’m sure there’s deeper takes on this but from my understanding, it’s a mix of things: 1) he convinced them he’s not like other politicians (which is true, he was not a politician at all) and 2) he convinced them he’s the “pull yourself up by the jockstrap” American dream and everyone can be like him - that’s just the typical American lie they’ve been using for decades if not longer. Then sprinkle a little bit of christofacist fear mongering in there and you got some undereducated folks excited to see someone who’ll “fight” for their American dream.
Ah okay. In Canada the day after remembrance day is usually the “respectful” start of the season.
