The answer is nearly going to always be ‘your data’ and loyalty
The answer is nearly going to always be ‘your data’ and loyalty
I can’t remember if the word at the time was that they were trying to stop the calls from affecting performance or they wanted the juicy data all for themselves
Seems pretty clear why the apis were shut down for apps
Lemme guess… they are worried companies are using it to train ai, so better close it off so they control access to it
You should apply for a job as head of their legal department…
Every hacker and law enforcement agency in the world would love your user root access idea
I feel it has already happened… people check social media, but I hardly see any created content anymore (status updates etc)… just reposted stuff from gullible people that they thought was magic but was just AI created rubbish.
The only thing I use social media for is purchasing items from hobby groups and I can’t see that being replicated anywhere anytime soon as eBay is full of fake rubbish
It feels like there are two types of productions since Covid… $200m+ epic productions, or Netflix style lazy cookie cut crap. I hope one day we go full circle and resurrect some forgotten genres that just don’t get funded anymore
I guess the preemptive block helps make the block easier for admins rather than ‘trying to do it’ once the service is embedded. Fact is Lemmy is doing ok without it so removing it isn’t going to make Lemmy worse than it was yesterday.
I don’t use threads so I don’t really see any personal benefit to blocking it, so I am a bit biased
There are many, but one of the reasons is to buy a house in the catchment area of a good school. They child can attend and pretend they are living in the house but still live in the city
I don’t know what may have changed as I am an iPhone user, but about 10 years ago I worked in a small security role for a fairly large company, and the communications company we were using was more than happy to hand over sms logs as plain text. I would personally never send messages to anyone I was sure wasn’t encrypted and I can tell that by the blue bubble. I just don’t know when it is green.
I don’t know what has changed as I don’t keep up with it, but I am still dubious about messaging outside the Apple ecosystem, which is ok for me as I live in a country where most people use iOS
I will probably continue to buy new cars as I can spend my hard earned on whatever I want. Everyone’s financial situation, wants and needs are different… you shouldn’t bundle everyone else into your opinion.
That said, I wouldn’t buy a car that has a feature that I need locked behind a subscription… I would just buy one that suits. I am not loyal to any particular brand so I don’t care.
I don’t ’hate’ them, and I am comfortable that the information I share is ok-ish.
I have adblockers, I use Firefox, I don’t look at ads (ever) I don’t have anything stored with them that I care about too much… I am at peace with it, not happy, not upset
Band of Brothers or The West Wing. Both are brilliantly written… for something funny I like Chuck
They are overpriced based on a system you can build yourself, but the target audience for a NAS is someone who doesn’t want to spend days googling guides when a hard drive craps the bed or the os glitches. When I think of how much my NAS was, what I have stored on it and how much I use it, it is probably the best value for money thing I own.

I don’t feel trapped into Google for search… the fact is their search engine gives me better results than everyone else’s. It is not like they are restricting my access to others.
A few years ago my work had Microsoft staff in doing an SQL assessment and the guy doing the works spent a good 5 mins trying to find a Microsoft article in Bing. Eventually he asked me to look away, switched to Google and found it as the top result. I asked why he requested I look away and he said it was against their rules to use Google lol
Crystal Skull for me… the first 3 Indiana Jones movies are near perfect, but all in different ways… but the thing that ties them together is action, adventure, a simpl-ish story, some treasure, and they are beautiful. I was so pumped for Crystal Skull.
I was away for work, had a free night and there was a cinema a stroll away. I got a 6 pack of wild turkey and coke and started walking only to find it was about a 90min walk… I was 6 turkeys deep but this was going to be magical, right? Nope, it was the biggest disappointment of a movie I have ever seen, then I had to walk 90mins back to my hotel reliving it.
Before Covid I was wearing redwings as my daily and they were so comfortable, bought a second pair in a different style (which is a big investment for me) and then Covid hit and now I spend 90% of my day in Ugg boots, socks or no shoes… oh well, I think I have a lifetime worth of boots there
I just added the curses to the normal text replacement settings in IOS and I have never had a ducking problem
