I actually have it installed. Great maps app, but it doesn’t have turn-by-turn navigation as far as I’m aware.

Google Maps was a great app and service, it had decent navigation and always a lot of information on a lot of places. Nowadays it’s cluttered with features including a “news feed” with social network-like posts made by people on places in the area.
On iOS devices I can highly recommend Apple Maps nowadays. They completely overhauled their maps a few years ago and I got great results navigating with it. The app isn’t bloated, it’s fast, the map material looks great and their version of Street View is a lot more sophisticated.
For strictly navigating you can also check out TomTom AmiGO. It’s a free variant of TomTom’s navigational system. I wouldn’t really use it outside of car navigation though.
I used to use Sygic a few years back, but they switched to a subscription model and keep nagging existing “lifetime” buyers to subscribe.
May as well call it “Google Drive Storage Plans” again then? Aside from some dysfunctional AI features that’s pretty much the only thing you get, no?
Most people will use whatever the default on their device is. Most phones that aren’t iPhones come with Google apps and services set as default.
The only Google services I still use are YouTube and in rare cases Google Maps. But if YouTube continues to enshittify I’ll stop using that. I’ve been using Google Maps mainly to get information about places to eat/sleep in cities, not really for navigation.
I may have done everything Apple wants me to do then. I remember getting a single Apple Music popup in the Music app years ago, but nowadays I’m subscribed to their music service anyway. Do they nag (more than once) nowadays when you’re not subscribed? That’d suck hard.
Should I ever get nagged again and again by my iPhone, I’ll switch phones. This constant nagging and not respecting my settings is the #1 reason I switched from Windows to Linux.
So a Planck-like ortho keyboard with a miniscule screen?
Is there any OS besides Windows doing this?
Going by train in some countries is a huge pain in the butt though (Germany for example).
I mostly agree with your statement. If you want people to switch to alternatives, the alternative needs to be better than the status quo in some way.
I’m not saying they shouldn’t rent a car for these occasions, I’m just saying that’s probably the reason why hybrids are more popular.
People still go on holiday once or twice a year, snd many travel by car and always prefer their own car over rental. A 100 mile range EV being good for 95% of your use cases doesn’t help you much with the other 5%.
Apparently she tweeted it, didn’t she? So even if she tweeted it as a response to an ongoing discussion on X, this tweet would’ve been read by many as-is, and the tweet itself wouldn’t have provided a lot of context.
With that being said, I still don’t think her original statement logically made a lot of sense.
That’s all I’m saying bud :) just my opinion.
Hm, okay. I personally still wouldn’t trust them with anything, as they’re clearly willing to go as far as they possibly can.
I understand that in the corporate world, switching away from Adobe isn’t as easy.
Where did I say that it’s racist? I said it’s not a good comment to make, purely from a logical standpoint.
Why do I think it’s not a good comment to make? Because I don’t think there should be any relation made to skin color at all in this case. Some of the best soccer players in the world/country just happen to have a certain skin color.
She makes it seem like an all-white team would definitely be worse (or better) compared to the current lineup, even if there were 11 white players objectively better at soccer than all other players that could’ve made up the team.
She could’ve said “the team is as good as it is because we didn’t discriminate between skin colors when picking the best players”. That would’ve brought her intended message across.
Well change your fucking ToS back you rats!
I’m guessing that’s what she meant, but I think no matter which way she meant it (either that the team would be worse all-white or better all-white), it’s not a good comment to make either way as I don’t see how skin color relates to skill.
Yup. Let’s not forget that pedophilia is a mental disorder. I’d assume that many people with pedophilia don’t become offenders, but I think that the number of offenders could be much lower still if these people got proper help and treatment before they ever commit a crime.
Sure, if these people actually commit crimes or if they’re about to, we have to make sure they’re physically unable to get anywhere near children. But I feel like in most circles if someone were to come out and admit they have this mental disorder, they’ll be frowned upon, probably lose all their “friends” and not get any help. On the internet, it’s far worse than this.
Note that suspends != cancelled and it’s just the “Pro”, with a cheaper model allegedly in the works.
We’ll see where a cheaper model lands in terms of price, but it’s very clear now that $3500+ isn’t really the price range where most people buy something out of curiosity. Because let’s face it: the Vision (Pro) still lacks a “killer app” for the masses.
Ah so this is about swapping the battery on-the-go so you can get rid of your depleted one and get a freshly charged one within minutes.
That’s actually pretty cool then!
Not quite sure how this relates to Apple though.
I wouldn’t be so sure. I feel like many people would not buy another MacBook if it were to feel a lot slower after just a few years.
This feels like short term gains vs. long term reputation.
