How about Thunderbolt? This looks like macOS, and while I’m not 100% sure if they utilize HDMI ports anymore, they certainly use Thunderbolt.

I know the feeling, I just had a week off and returned to work on Friday a couple of days ago.

That is awful, Celiac’s (and really any autoimmune disease) is no joke. I see a lot of parallels reflected in their post and I truly hate that for them so much - constantly struggling to find foods that you can tolerate, having numerous surgeries, seeing a million different doctors, being in and out of the hospital all the time to the point that its a second home, lab test after lab test that only result in more questions than answers, symptoms and other issues spiraling up due to complications of going through the condition - you name it.

I feel for them, every day feels like you’ve got the curse of Sisyphus. I feel like there has to be a solution for people like them and I, and its unfortunate that there is just so much about the body and its various systems that we don’t understand. I constantly struggle with the idea that we’ve come so far with the sciences, and yet it feels like in matters of human physiology like the GI, immune, and nervous system we’ve barely scratched the surface.

Oh… oh no… Damn it, I will never sit in an office chair the same ever again without thinking about this.

I’ve had health issues since I was a kid (all stemming from developing Crohn’s Disease symptoms before I was even a teenager), and a lot of them still haven’t been resolved (in part of reasons such as developing new conditions due to medications I took to treat another condition). One of the worst things I fear is that if I randomly end up leaving this world in a way that incurs an autopsy, the results will end with something like “Damn, this man had issues. If his doctors had known about X then he could’ve lived a much better life, the treatment is simple”.

I go through so much, and I’ve done countless research to try to track down possibilities that my doctors hadn’t considered (some of my research has in fact lead to me finding out new things that my doctors didn’t account for, even as of this year) - and I always have this terrifying doubt of “What if I had just chosen a different doctor, the next one on the list might’ve had this idea years ago and prevented some of this”. That line of thinking of “Could’ve, should’ve, would’ve” doesn’t help of course (as my friend likes to tell me “What if the sky were green?”) but that doesn’t stop me from thinking about it more often than I’d like to.

Jeez, no wonder Infinite has always had such a bad reputation then!

As far as I recall, Infinite has had online co-op, just not local/split screen co-op.

Hmm, gotcha. I just tried out a fresh copy of text-gen-webui and it seems like the latest version is borked with ROCM (I get the CUDA error: invalid device function error).

My next recommendation then would be LM Studio which to my knowledge can still output an OpenAI compatible API endpoint to be used in SillyTavern - I’ve used it in the past before and I didn’t even need to run it within Distrobox (I have all of the ROCM stuff installed locally, but I generally run most of the AI stuff in distrobox since it tends to require an older version of Python than Arch is currently using) - it seems they’ve recently started supporting running GGUF models via Vulkan, which I assume probably doesn’t require the ROCM stuff to be installed perhaps?

Might be worth a shot, I just downloaded the latest version (the UI has definitely changed a bit since I last used it) and just grabbed a copy of the Gemma model and ran it, and it seemed to work without an issue for me directly on the host.

The advanced configuration settings no longer seem to directly mention GPU acceleration like it used to, however I can see it utilizing GPU resources in nvtop currently, and the speed it was generating at (the one in my screenshot was 83 tokens a second) couldn’t have possibly been done on the CPU so it seems to be fine on my side.

Ah, strange. I don’t suppose you specifically need a Fedora container? If not, I’ve been using this Ubuntu based distrobox container recipe for anything that requires ROCM and it has worked flawless for me.

If that still doesn’t work (I haven’t actually tried out kobolcpp yet), and you’re willing to try something other than kobolcpp, then I’d recommend the text-generation-webui project which supports a wide array of model types, including the GGUF types that Kobolcpp utilizes. Then if you really want to get deep into it, you can even pair it with SillyTavern (it is purely a frontend for a bunch of different LLM backends, text-generation-webui is one of the supported ones)!

What card do you use? I have a 6700XT and getting anything with ROCM running for me requires that I pass the HSA_OVERRIDE_GFX_VERSION=10.3.0 environmental variable to the related process, otherwise it just refuses to run properly. I wonder if it might be something similar for you too?

Along with Helldivers 2, I can confirm Apex Legends works as well. Valorant as far as I’m aware is a definite no-go though.

Ah gotcha, I’m sorry to hear the stuff with the VM didn’t work out too well. I’m not really familiar with how that type of setup works. I have a friend who uses a looking glass setup to do this, but for me its just easier to boot into Windows on the few occasions I need it haha.

Somehow I missed that DXM could be used this way. The antidepressant I take includes DXM in it, but clearly not at the level of dosage that you’re probably referring to 😅

My desktop PC runs a dual boot of Arch Linux and Windows 11 (for the few things that don’t work with Linux cough Destiny 2 cough - damn it Bungie, and VR stuff). My MacBook runs a dual boot of Fedora 40 and whatever is the latest version of macOS that can run on it (its an older Intel model, Apple dropped support for it a couple of years ago - I think its running Big Sur? I hardly ever boot into macOS).

And then my Steam Deck (its effectively just another x86 PC afterall) of course uses SteamOS.

Ah, gotcha - yeah that is definitely one of the pitfalls of Linux gaming still, which is the “there’s so many different configurations and some of them just work, others don’t” issue. I have an AMD card so perhaps it is an Nvidia issue - hopefully those sorts of issues smooth out once NVK is fully ready to go.
