People who craft intentionally misleading titles with a qualifier at the end that diffuses the statement have been proven to be pedophiles, schwim says.

Someone point this man to a soap opera instance, stat!
Had to look up what substack was. Not sure if that speaks more of it’s irrelevance, my ignorance or if it’s a 50/50 split.
I think the answer to that question would completely depend on what you value.
I don’t think for myself, it’s primarily the fault of bots, misinformation and ads. It’s… Us. We’re not as interesting as we like to think we are and I have just gotten exhausted slogging through the “look what I can do” posts.
It’s much more rewarding for me to follow videos or threads of people actually creating something that interests me than it is to scroll through feeds consisting of online acquaintances posting memes, pics of purchases, food and locales.
My preferred medium is YouTube subs via freetube of channels whose content appeals to me(carpentry, car builds, mtb, etc). I don’t use any social aspects of the platform, I just like to watch the content.
That works in both directions. Don’t assume that the few that didn’t return are the ones that would have saved Reddit via incredible content.
If I had to watch an ad, deep fake or not, I’d just stop watching YT vids altogether.
This has been Tesla’s modus operandi since day one of Musk’s involvement and the bootlicking fanboys have helped blame the victims of the failures to keep legitimate claims from gaining ground in recalls.

You can still opt out by opting not to use Dropbox.
“It happens all the time” and “they always do *” is also comically unhelpful and useless. I’m getting a pot/kettle vibe from those that seem to take offense at my comment.
I also use FF solely and have no slowdowns on YT. I guess they like my copy of the browser.
I’m sorry but I don’t see how that check is browser-specific. Is that part happening on the browser side?
Nobody can even state that it’s actually happening “for competitive browsers” as even Chrome users are reporting an unexplained lag/slowdown. At this point, it’s just wild speculation and bandwagoning.
I’ve got Grayjay on my phone but I very rarely watch YT on it so I’ve not really used it yet. Almost 100% of my watching happens on the PC and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with Freetube. No shorts spam, sponsorblock, more useful features on the player, it’s pretty fantastic.
YT’s push into ad-blocker blocking did the same for me that Reddit’s API change did, that being it was enough of a push for me to stop using their platform. In Reddit’s case, I get my fix from Lemmy and in YT’s case, I use Freetube to watch videos. In both cases, I’m sure they’re not losing money in my absence but I do feel better not giving them the data that I used to.
It’s not. I’ve had some of the same empty communities for more than a month in that block.
There is a way to opt out. Stop using FB.
I never thought of that aspect as I’ve never used them. My subscription list is so long, I don’t have the time to watch the videos I’m subbed to, much less any bonus content. I wonder how many people use that feature.
There’s some people that can’t come up with positive references, even when cherrypicked. I’d probably fall into that group.
