Oh my, a real who’s who, I recognize most of the names mentioned too. But let’s be fair, they post stuff while many, myself included, just comment.
Too bad I just use my game name for this, haha

Oh fuck, I forgot about this. I never got a chance to play those because my brother, and then my father, both monopolized the games. Ironic the same was true of Kingdom Hearts, and it sounds like both are released a week of one another on steam. (Yay, reliving a childhood I didn’t have!)
I don’t know about you but I’m going to have to keep my daughter away from social media! It’ll rot her brain and make her a tankie! (We are taking about Lemmy, right? /s)
You know, part of me wants to do a Civ marathon and try to remember the rules in the first few games I haven’t played in decades. Alpha Centari would be on that list, though.
Omg, haven’t been this hyped since the live action Dragon Ball movie.
I can’t speak for you, but I experience similar and I think there’s a few reasons. To me, movies are tough mostly because there so many options, I spend too much time just browsing.
Games, I think it’s either because starting a new game is a like intimidating, or because I feel I need at least a chunk of time and by the time I do it, it’s too late. And again, options.
Plus scrolling is just kind of fun sometimes. Iunno. Humans need other humans. P
Either way, I’m on Lemmy right now because I’ve got a 2 year old koalaing my left arm, though. Be glad you at least have the choice to scroll! Best of luck, hope you get a game inspiration soon.
Quality over quantity, I guess. It could be a great place to recruit IT and Linux pros, lol.
I just installed Norton Anti-Virus Suite and it’s been amazing. I haven’t been able to use my computer since!
Ah man I miss Giordano’s. A good reason to go back to Chicago again… Aside from all the other good reasons, anyway.
Ok, not necessarily my favorite but I want to shout out a Tandoori BBQ Chicken pizza I had the other day. It was like a standard BBQ chicken pizza (which, admittedly stretches the definition of pizza) and throws Indian food on it.
My favorite right now is also somewhat blasphemous; I fancy a good spicy pepperoni square pizza, done up Detroit style (but marketed Sicilian). Buttery, crispy crust, truly splendid.
Quick edit: y’all are also splendid. Great tastes all around!
Good for you guys, hopefully they do something about it because it really is problematic (alcohol certainly ruined my childhood!).
They did try to outlaw it in the US over 100 years ago, right after women got the right to vote. Among other things, part of the rational was women getting beaten by alcohol abusing husbands. Unfortunately it takes a lot more than an amendment to stop something so pervasive though.
Thanks for linking that, I didn’t have anything handy since it’s been ages.
It’s been a long time but one of my favorites was the Star Control 2 remake Ur-Quan Masters. I believe there is a free HD version out there, too. Plus if you like it, the OG creators have current projects you can support (they left that IP after 2).
Not sure what genre it is; certainly not action packed like your examples but those space battles were fun.
Hey man, he can always go back to DOS!
All, 6 hours (or 12 hours if I sleep).
I like being forced into All by the smallness. I didn’t realize I like Star Trek and D&D memes as much as I do. And if you go far enough, there’s porn there, too!
Luckily I could do it via browser too. I had used the account I had used to also read .notes files (before Google drive could read them) and sure enough I could cancel just fine.
It doesn’t necessary cost a meaningful amount to a site to allow Firefox users to view it; it does however cost to make it compatible with non-chromium browsers. For most viewing that’s a non issue (I mean, most crms are going to work) but specific sites might stop working (YouTube already got caught throttling firefox, and tbf, streaming would cost more than reading an article or something).
Natural next step, given the riveting narrative of the games. Truly a masterpiece in story telling.
Real talk though, you haven’t lived until you played Minecraft in VR and looked an enderman in the eye. It hits on another level when it’s literal eye contact, like looking at the wrong guy on the bus and getting murdered for it.
Oh dang I know the free trial, we got that too. Fuck I hope it’s not as much a pain to cancel for us.
I like “or else” meant no promotions, as if that ever meant anything in tech. If you want more money you jump to another company. This just gives them even more incentive to do that.
Fun fact, a big reason why innovation happened a lot in tech is because of this-- when a company fails to retain someone, they take their wealth of knowledge and trade secrets with them. It actually hurts companies more than just losing a person since it also gives the competition a leg up!
