I used to be kind of low level anti-pharmaceuticals. Nothing too dramatic (never antivax), but definitely quietly on the side of other forms of interventions of any kind being preferable over drugs.

I still acknowledge that in many instances other interventions can be better, but in a lot of cases a pharmaceutical intervention is the quickest, most effective and safest way for people to deal with whatever health or mental health conditions they have. And also lots of drugs are perfectly safe over the long term.

I think I was raised with a lot of ideas around purity, but when I came out as trans is when that started to change in a big way.

I would assume that it operates in much the same way that other forms of addiction do.

Mental illness, personality disorders, insecure attachments, trauma, social isolation and specific genetic factors are the usual suspects as far as predicting addiction go. I don’t suspect that social media addiction is much different.

I think I’m a pretty average Linux user. Who needs something that “just works” when you can break it by trying to add something you don’t need?

I know. I’m from rural Canada. I didn’t say everyone could live without a car, I said “most.” It’s not feasible for everyone, especially given current infrastructure.

But most people live in urban areas where it’s very possible to get by without a car.

I switched to TIDAL, for this, for the disgustingly low amount of revenue passed along to artists by Spotify (the entire value of their business), and for the fact that they continue to partner with Rogan after all the disinformation he peddles.

Not a huge proponent of streaming services in general, but some are objectively better than others. Spotify is atrocious. Tidal is a lot better.

The amount of emissions in these small, wildly inefficient engines is considerably worse than even a large pickup truck. The reason is because emissions standards, including the introduction of catalytic converters, etc. don’t apply to lawn equipment. The result is that these don’t actually burn fuel correctly, and spew out lots of harmful pollutants in a way that even large ICE vehicles don’t.

Like sure, there are larger sources of emissions, but I’m kinda in favor of making changes that would offer a large benefit proportionate to the amount of lifestyle change needed to make the switch. As in, making this switch would be easier than not. These emissions produce no benefit to us, and they cost us a weird amount of money to produce.

Absolutely. And all those emissions are taking place very close to a human’s face.
