  • That’s a weird argument.

It’s not an argument for going to prison, it’s a commentary on the deplorable state of American society.

Suicide is even cheaper, should we recommend that?

You think people haven’t considered and even exercised that option for that very reason?

incarceration is not an experience most people enjoy…

If the point of prison is to remove joy, then why not just have convicts play No Man’s Sky?

But seriously, should that even be the point? Isn’t the point of having a justice system a bit more nuanced than that? Shouldn’t our aim be to create a better society in general? Not simply through mere incarceration, but also education and mental health care?

Don’t we owe it to the members of society who have been failed by society to lift them up when possible to a place where they no longer need to subvert and disrupt society’s rules for the sake of their own survival? Don’t we owe it to the rest of society to provide a path to a productive life for so of its citizens, regardless of our previous unwillingness or inability to do so?

  • I drive one for Uber as my full time gig. I spend about $125/wk on charging exclusively at superchargers.i could mitigate this substantially of I was able to put a home charger in.

People on the left hate Elon, tech people think a car can’t drive itself without a weapons grade sensor array, and people on the right hate using electricity for propulsion, car people are threatened by electric car’s acceleration, or that the battery is going to die and I’ll need to get a new car.

I think it’s important to note that all of those fears are completely unfounded and some are just ridiculous. Also that you can lease one now for literally $250/mo, so not really so expensive to own.

Who at Amazon would be hurt by a bigot using their Echo or doorbell?

That’s a great question and I don’t know what kind of exposure Amazon employees have to audio logs from those devices but I’m certain there’s some sure to required troubleshooting and debugging.

Stopping deliveries sure but this is a couple of steps further.

I also don’t know how integrated the various aspects of a user’s account are and whether it would even be possible for Amazon to have taken a smaller step.

As it turned out, he wasn’t. But when they stopped servicing him, they had every reason to believe that he was.

Do you continue to service a customer whose behavior is otherwise unacceptable until you’re absolutely sure he’s a bigot? Or do you abide by your legal obligation to protect your workers from such behavior?

I don’t know if Amazon did the worst thing here, but I don’t know that the best thing is far off from what they did.
