It’s the CEOs that drive this decision for and against, not the bean counters.

That generational improvement is not the natural order of the universe. It’s the result of individuals putting themselves in harms way to push for change. It’s hard-fought legislation moving the cause forward. It’s constitutional amendments. It’s legal cases won against the odds. It’s corporations jumping on the bandwagon not wanting to be seen to oppose respectable society.
But those who have always fought against the process are racking up wins. That generational change you’ve observed that looked inevitable is under severe threat. You cannot count on it happening by itself.
Comparing proton with Microsoft like this is a joke.
Laziest common response to things like this. People still use Windows? People still use cars? WordPress is insanely popular and there’s no indication that’s going to change. Not even after you’ve chosem to signal to all of us here that you don’t use it. Good for you, though!
Tesla model 3 doors do not lock immediately every time they shut. But if you use your cell phone as a key, the default behavior is that they are locked if you walk away with the phone a few yards.
Novice web site owner/coder here: wondering if I can block them somehow via IP address in addition to robots.txt. Server firewall rule? Remember, I said I was a novice…
I agree it’s down a large amount but it started at a really high level. Tens of millions to go before we get to ask “Who on earth still uses Twitter?”
An ungodly amount of people do, there’s no point in pretending otherwise.
Realistically, what can you use this for that’s worthwhile?
Cool looking device though.
With my EV I follow recommended practice to ensure longevity of the battery. I rarely charge it more than halfway as I don’t need to for my regular usage, and I avoid letting it run down entirely. Once you engage in battery swapping, where’s the incentive to take care of it well? After my first swap my brand new excellent condition battery is replaced by who knows what.
I’d like to see evidence of what the original poster on this thread says before trusting what they are saying. I haven’t seen this be the case at all.
“We purchase and acquire books—yes, physical, paper books—and make them available for one person at a time to check out and read online”
They excel at pivots
I’d like to believe that to be true
As we learned from the reddit app changes, the ending of Netflix account sharing, etc etc the people who will take this action are few enough not to matter. Regretfully.
I was responding to the point being made that smartphones are a detriment during a school shooting due to students sharing misinformation.
“BREAKING: Staffed gas stations have been robbed at gun point, scaring drivers into buying EVs so they can charge alone safely instead”
Who wrote this article, Oil and Gas Inc?
Would you allow the children to have a cell phone in school so they can say goodbye to their parents before they are shot to death? Seems a fair concession vs the apparent need to prevent the kids from spreading misinformation about a gunman roaming the school.
I know it’s bad to say but MS office is a real barrier. That and done other compatibility issues with Windows apps made me abandon Ubuntu for Windows after several months where I otherwise loved it.
