To be fair, they are providing several services with it, along with the data hosting. Being verified also means you get boosted in search results, with comes with more downloads. So at least the cost can be somewhat justified. Whether it’s too much is valid for debate.

That’s definitely true. I’ve always liked the concept, but never bought into this hype around the speculation, which really gives it a bad name.

That’s why I think Monero is really the way forward to a good cryptocurrency. It’s price is fairly stable and makes more sense than Bitcoin in many ways. I’d use it more if there were more vendors using it. The most I’ve done with it is buy a Mullvad subscription.

I think there was a potential future where cryptocurrency could’ve actually been useful, but it was ruined by scammers, rug pullers, and of course, speculators.

I’ll still hold a little bit of Monero, since it holds the most potential for being a real currency in my opinion. But otherwise, I fully agree with the sentiment.

I’m sure a Framework phone is at least an idea for them to produce. Definitely an extremely difficult challenge. It would be nice if it allowed for removable RAM, but it could be hard due to SODIMM being relatively large or due to RAM being put on SOCs. I imagine it shouldn’t be too much to ask for removable storage at least, given how small NVME drives can get. Upgradable SOC/motherboard is a must.

Switching to Neovim is on my to-do list. What do you recommend as a good way to get up to speed?

I understand that software directly and silently changing the default software can be a security issue. But it’s only because it happens silently. Does Windows allow for showing a system prompt that confirms the change to the user? If not, then that’s just plain ol’ anti-competitive. Especially with how pushy Edge and Bing can be.

I think NLPs have been less helpful for me. Like I’ll go to work and it’ll think I’m in another state (our internet uses the same IP as our headquarters, and the SSID is the same for all locations). Not sure why it can’t reject the bad guess when it sees how off it is from my GPS coordinate.

Reminds me of when I downloaded Tic Tac Toe for my graphing calculator in high school. It wasn’t this verbose, but the original author copy pasted the logic for each turn. Even I knew this was awful, so I refactored it to use a loop.

They are tracking support for other OSes, and I took a look at the Linux roadmap, and they’ve made some good headway from the last time I looked. I would use it for its UI performance. I don’t like how everything these days use Electron. It also supports Language Server Protocol, so adding extensions for languages should be fairly simple for the community to do. The multiple collaboration seems cool too, although I think most devs would seldom use it.

I would bet that Parisians saw the hell that the USA went through with absurdly large cars and car dependency and wish to prevent that from happening to their city, which this additional fee would help disincentivize.

This channel opened my eyes to the extremely terrible world of car dependency that we live in. I will warn you that once you know this, you will never see the world the same way again, but it’s extremely important that we know about this problems so that we can push our governments to fix them.

I regularly use wireless earbuds, which are extremely convenient, but I am not looking forward to the day when the battery is insufficient for me and I can’t replace it due to “innovation”. I also miss out on having splitters so that 2 people can listen to the same audio. I know Bluetooth LE is supposed to fix that, but I don’t even know what devices support that. Like others said, having the choice is important, but Apple’s “bravery” and market domination removed that from us…
