  • That ship has sailed, I thoroughly nuked an account that almost could have drunk in the us and I’d be fucked if I make another after the assholes restored my comments as by [deleted] or some shit and now they’re training fucking electronic snoids to parrot my wisdom and humor to obsolete me. It’s the principle I object to, I piss in this pot here knowing full well there’s runoff across the fediverse and I’d never be able to sponge back all the piss, but those assholes lie and steal.

  • This statement irks me unproportionally strongly compared to how banal it is. It’s the equivalent of “it is what it is” in saying nothing, but with some edgy pedantic seasoning. What about if the atmosphere was stripped and the planet was left a barren rock? What about if something knocked it from out of the Solar system and it was sent reeling into the universe on its own? “The planet doesn’t care, it can carry on without us” – and please, pretend I did the Spongebob random caps thing, because that’s what I think of your banality.

  • while i see where you’re coming from, being able to message WhatsApp users from a client app that respects privacy would be better than being forced to have WhatsApp installed on your device

Who’s forcing you? I removed everything Zuckerberg and just informed people I use only Signal now. I had to help my parents a bit with the install and the pin, younger than 70s did it themselves. I found that, if you have a reason for boycotting, people will just give you a hundred MB of their phone space and install Signal along with whatsapp

  • Ugh, okay Meredith, let’s pretend it’s impossible to handle this with user experience that makes the user acknowledge their conversation with a WhatsApp user is not secure. Meanwhile if the only viable way for this conversion to occur is to have WhatsApp on both ends, the situation less secure.

I don’t agree with this. The only way to have the conversation is to have Signal at both ends.

  • All you care about is your games?

I also care about the people developing them when they’re a small business making exceptional quality, such as Flow Fire Games. But I can’t be fucked about Ubisoft’s 300-strong team in 5 countries producing shitty assets for a perfunctory openworld serving CEO’s monetization wet dreams. I don’t even have to get into Dunbar rationalizations, they destroyed the franchises I enjoyed, now I get to enjoy some schadenfreude.

  • I still wouldn’t use it, but Elon should buy it so he can more convincingly posture a saviour of independent social media. Just drop the tracking, sell square ads on the sidebar based on content only, open up api for all sorts of uses and make rif is ridiculous fun for reddit the official client. Give it to five geeks to maintain and call it a public service. What’s a bit more down the drain? It’s all gonna go Midas anyways. At least that would be a win for the internets
