I came into this post expecting an introspective discussion on OP’s life based on the title. I leave amused by the simplicity of reality.
Picture might be too big : there is a maximum number of kilobytes allowed.
That was it. Cropped it a bit and it popped right up. Thanks again.

Try using an external image hoster like directupload.eu if you want bigger images :)
Had the same problem yesterday. You clicked on “Upload picture”, selected one, and nothing happened?
Crop it if you can or reduce the resolution, maybe. Cropping it worked for me.
Ohh I thought that Lemmy automatically resize and converts my picture to a compressed .webp file. Thank you!
It depends on the server you use. Some even don’t allow uploads at all.
