Defence ministry says 29 locations hit after attack on Turkish military base in Iraq killed nine Turkish soldiers. The defence ministry said fighter jets struck targets in Metina, Hakurk, Gara and Qandil in northern Iraq, but did not specify which areas in Syria. It said the aim was “to eliminate terrorist attacks against our people and security forces … and to ensure our border security”.

Not a first though. Just a couple of weeks ago aljazeera link 27 dec 23 :

“Turkey has hit 71 sites allegedly linked to Kurdish groups in Syria and northern Iraq during air raids launched this week in retaliation for the deaths of 12 Turkish soldiers in Iraq, the defence minister has said.”

Sounds like the current Israeli playbook is spreading. I wonder how this will end (in thermonuclear Armageddon).

This isn’t new. Turkey has been bombing PYD (Rojava) for a decade and PKK affiliated forces in Iraq for longer. They consitently target civilian infastructure such as food storages and the electronic grid.

Don’t sell Erdogan’s government short - they are their own fascist brand, no inspiration needed.

Sounds more like you’ve just been unaware of/uninterested in the plight of the Kurds until now. I’m the last person to defend Israel, but trying to blame this on them just derails the conversation from those responsible.
